Public Utilities Fortnightly sat down with BPA Administrator and CEO John Hairston for an interview about the monumental relevance of hydropower in the Northwest’s clean energy future.

In the interview for the magazine’s May 2024 issue, Hairston delves into BPA’s history as a powerhouse of energization and economic prosperity in the Pacific Northwest and explains how BPA’s role in providing renewable, accessible, low-cost energy takes on new life in the push for clean power. 

Hairston expands on several key points throughout the interview, including hydropower’s role as a balancing resource and companion to intermittent renewables. He also describes BPA’s role in meeting growing energy demands through investments in transmission infrastructure that support the deliverability and reliability of the power grid now and in years to come.
