PTP Service

Point-To-Point Transmission Service (PTP) is transmission service that allows the reservation of capacity in megawatts (MWs). Customers can buy transmission service from a designated Source or Point of Receipt (POR) to a Sink or Point of Delivery (POD) in accordance with Part II of BPA's current Open Access Transmission Tariff.
Highlights:
  • BPA serves over 200 PTP customers, including marketers, developers, Investor Owned Utilities, and preference customers.
  • PTP can be used to serve load or to market power to third parties.
  • PTP can be resold amongst eligible Transmission Providers (TP) customers.
  • PTP can be redirected to alternative points on the transmission system on an as-available basis.
  • Customers are billed regardless of whether they use the full capacity of the reservation (also known as “take or pay”).
  • Transmission rates are established in BPA's Transmission, Ancillary, and Control Area Service Rate Schedules and General Rate Schedule Provisions.
