Balancing Reserves Overview

When a generator (i.e. solar form) or load (i.e. data center) connects to its Balancing Authority Area (BAA), BPA is obligated by NERC to offer Balancing Reserves at a rate and amount determined by BPA.

Following is an overview of the public process, customer election & participation and deployment for Balancing Reserves which include the following schedules:

• Schedule 3 - Regulation and Frequency Response
• Schedule 4 - Energy Imbalance
• Schedule 9 - Generation Imbalance
• Schedule 10 - Capacity for Generator Balancing
